Thuli Maya’s story demonstrates how a safe environment, nurturing care, and compassionate support can help someone overcome mental health problems. Sita’s story offers an important lesson in how a controlled, determined approach toward mental well-being can improve the quality of life. Through KOSHISH’s assistance, Sharmila received a category ‘A’ disability ID card (the one with the highest allowance) from the government. The income provision from Sharmila’s disability allowance has helped her make a meaningful difference in her living condition. After receiving psychosocial support from KOSHISH, Sharmila began working there as a Community Psychosocial Worker (CPSW) to assist others who are going through similar issues with their mental health. After three months in the emergency care center, Phulmaya was reintegrated with her family after significant improvement in her mental health was observed. “Through counseling, I have not only received a new life but have also been able to pursue my passions.” Govind’s parents resorted to tying him up in chains due to his frequent rage outbursts. He was able to overcome his mental health condition and live a fruitful life with proper psychosocial intervention. “If my son had known about KOSHISH earlier, he would still be with us today.” – Purna Nepali “Thanks to KOSHISH, I am now capable of taking care of myself and my home, as well as assuming responsibilities towards my family” Anu Ghimire (pseudonym) shares her story of a traumatized life. “I want to meet my son”, Shanti said. “I’d like to start a fresh life.” I feel blessed and blissful. However, my life was never this blissful and blessed in the past. I was very young when my step-father sold me into women trafficking. “I am very much concerned about my child’s future. How I could fulfill my son’s wishes and I have a fear that I won’t be able to support his upbringing.” “We all thought Shilu will die. She was weak and unable to walk. Her life has transformed thanks to KOSHISH.” “I like to write poems but I was unable as it reminded me about my past life. But now I’m hopeful and excited to write about my new beginning.”“A Better Life than the One I Had Before”
