KOSHISH has provided 3 events of training to Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) of Tanahun district on identification and referral of mental health condition and psychosocial disability in the month of December 2020. The 3-days training was focused on understanding the health, mental health, and psychosocial wellbeing; mental health and psychosocial problems; causes and impact; stigma, myths and facts about mental health problems; common mental health issues seen in the communities; stress management; understanding disability and psychosocial disability and referral mechanism.
A total of 58 FCHVs from Vyas municipality, Myagde, and Bandipur Rural Municipality of Tanahun benefited from the training. The training was successful to develop an effective and sustainable groundwork for mental health service in the local communities. KOSHISH in partnership with CBM has been implementing a community mental health program in the Tanahun district from 2020 with the objective of mainstreaming mental health in the government’s health system through empowering local resources and creating awareness on mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
