In collaboration with Satyawati School, Tanahun, KOSHISH organized a mental health orientation for teachers and parents of students attending the school. The event took place on 28th June 2022 at the school’s annual parent-teacher meeting and had participation from over 400 parents. The orientation aimed to educate parents and teachers about the students’ mental health and wellbeing. The session, facilitated by KOSHISH psychologist Sita Bhandari, included a
two-way discussion about parents’ and teachers’ roles in their children’s mental health, as well as how to recognize signs of distress. Informative videos about anxiety, depression, conduct disorder, substance abuse, and conversion disorder were also screened during the session to educate parents and teachers about these issues.
Following the orientation, parents approached the psychologist to discuss the mental health issues their children are experiencing and requested help from KOSHISH. The school administration also found the orientation effective and is eager to collaborate with KOSHISH to work on the mental well-being of the students. In this collaboration, KOSHISH will provide mental health support and counseling to the students in the space provided by the school.
