The Roles and Responsibilities of Psychology Students

An interaction program on “The Roles and Responsibilities of Psychology Students in the Mental Health Sector” was successfully conducted on 20th July 2014 at Padma Kanya Multiple Campus among the Masters level Psychology students. The participants were very interactive and showed keen interest in the sector of mental health. The multi-dimensional treatment system for mental well-being was discussed. The Head of Psychology Department, Lecturers of Psychology, Gender Studies was present in the program. Social worker Krishna Thapa presented about the Challenges of Reintegration and Rehabilitation of Persons with Mental Illness, as well as Reciprocal Link between Gender Based Violence and Mental Health Problem. Chair Person of KOSHISH, National Mental Health Self-Help Organization, Mr. Matrika Prasad Devkota presented on Challenges and Achievement of Mental Health in Nepal with Focus on State Mechanisms. Legal Expert of KOSHISH, Advocate Sharmila Parajuli dealt with Legal aspects of Mental Health and shared information regarding various existing legal provisions in Nepal. A music video of self-advocates of mental health sector was shown in the program and in the final session, the floor was opened for discussion.
